Probably about half a ton lighter after the jet wash, all a bit embarrassing how much mud was on the floor afterwards and me guiltily trying to wash and brush it into the gridle
Oh yeah forgot to thank all the guys for the loving packed spare parts that ye left for me :ok don't worry they will all go to good use

Don't know what was best. The off-road play, seeing Jes breeze most all he attempted on his first outing,
Or the catching up fireside.
Massive thanks for all the organisation and effort over the weekend. :ok

Another cracking weekend, cant wait to see the video replays!!! :!:

Big Thanks to my staff, chauffeurs and chefs and lets not forget those who fetched & chopped the firewood, without which the evenings may have lacked the warm conviviality which is a hallmark of these occasions :rofl :rofl :rofl

It was Dave (Jackson's) dad who first suggested to me that we try parallel towing, such was the stuckicity of that Disco, though others told me Harriet also thought we should try it, very succesful. Paul and I tried it again on the Sunday at a much greater angle for a slightly different reason... it worked well after my truck had jumped around 30 degrees from its original line-up, and settled down.
I think we've realised that strops and shackles need to be top notch and attention to detail taken when connecting up and planning the tow.

Nick, I think the hat should go with the tow controller's job, at least i could see where you were most of the time, this has all started up a hopefully frutiful debate about tow-outs, equipment, practices and procedures

We daisy-chained a stuck Disco out of a hole at Bordon last year too. Neil and Roger doing the pulling, me on the rope (when not chatting to the very attractive Disco co-pilot chappess)

Pretty aggressive recovery though iirc as it was well dug in to a bomb-hole like that one. Probably was the cause of Neils n/s/r cv going pop though...

..and it isn't surprising that he used to drive with Land Rovers a lot :D

Nice that you & Fiona made the drive over Neil, and had a go on the green stuff. It's nice to see a Syncro driven over meadows even, let alone muddy forest tracks, rather than just tarmac :ok

Yes, I'm sure you can engineer a solution to that engine sump guard. If not let's take a better look over here sometime.

And don't forget the memorable two van tug we did Sunday arvo to get my van over the hump after the exhaust got buried in mud. Only got a piccy of the recovery marshall though.

Ah well, I was too toasty by the windbreak and the fire to come and find you  . I'll give you a bell sometime to continue the ball rolling, but back in full-on work mode now so Syncro stuff taking a back seat for a short while.

It was a fab weekend with some challenging mud and resulting thought-provoking campfire conversations on recovery techniques.

A surprisingly good turnout as well I thought.

Welcome to the new peeps. I look forward to seeing you all again.
