1303 beetle

Post by squire »

Is it 1303 or 1303S i.e. drum or disc brake on the front?

If its a disc then probably the pistons are siezed in the caliper. If its a drum then the wheel cylinder may be seized. Alternatively if its drums the shoes may have stuck to the drums in which case several hard hits with a hammer may do the job. Or you could try de adjusting the brakes although if it has been standing the adjusters will probably be siezed as well.
How long has it been standing?

i always found really pressing hard on the brake pedal would free them off, should hear a nice crack when they free.
Or as above get mr lump out and give them a whack

Take the wheel off, and give it a crack with a hammer as has been said. You could try adding a little heat around the drum as well......But not too much.

Solid pans and channels hey... Thats a good find
