Digi Freeview Question

Post by Seamus »

Does anybody know if you can receive the Digi Channels from a freeview box through the RF lead or do you need a scart connection to enable that?

We have bought a flip down DVD/TV unit and want to get a seperate Freeview Box, however there is no facility to connect a scart to the main unit, only through the RF cable?

Hmmm?

The freeview box RF is a pass-through for the antenna signal so I don't see how it could work unless the flip down unit had its own freeview tuner.

What video & audio in sockets has the flip down unit got?
If the flip down unit has got RCA (normally red, white & yellow) type sockets use those with a scart to RCA lead. If its got one of the combined audio / video jack sockets you can still use that with the right lead. My freeview box is connected to a screen from an old twin screen DVD player in the back and the LCD rear view mirror in the front, do it's do-able.

You need to get a freeview box with a MODULATOR built in in, that converts your digital channel to analogue on an unused channel, and sends it down the RF lead, just like your old VHS recorder used to do. Works OK, but not as good as scart socket. Trouble is the industry only wants to sell new tellys, so best of luck finding one.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.

Are you sure you can only connect to the TV by RF?
Some TVs have a 3 4 pole 3.5 mm socket (looks like a headphone socket.)
If it has one of these sockets you can get an adaptor.
