21.8 from a 2.1 DJ in a Westy Syncro going from West Cornwall to Snowdonia and back with 4 up and full camping / climbing gear etc. Was quite chuffed but it made me think about Scooby alternatives or a 1.9 TD with all the electronics. Ours is a keeper even tho we know its going to be a money pit!

whoever posted earlier with the 1.9tdi hightop i advise you strongly to speak to aidan that 5th gear transformed my van and the 2.1 pug 110bhp pulls it easy so the tdi withy smaller turbo should manage ok

29.4mpg going to Vanfest and back along the M5 and A40. Syncro Multivan with 2 litre Golf AGG engine newly installed. Running 205x14 tyres. Better than I expected.

20mpg on a long 60mph run.
16mpg if hustled.
Oh, and the wrong distributor, a 009.
I also have 2ltr AC Hi-top, i get around 17mpg, top speed 55mpg
but then I do need to get my engine looked at
I asked for a car, I got a computer. How's that for being born under a bad sign?

2.0 litre air-cooled tintop, regularly average 24mpg on a 2000-mile tour. Rarely on motorways, rarely exceed 55mph.

I just saw your post. I'd definitely get your engine looked at if you can only do 55mph. My van happily sits at 65mph on the speedo, and on the flat will pull up over 75mph for overtaking. I've got standard wheels etc so the speedo is as accurate as VW intended.
2ltr Aircooled CU with twin Solex's & originally a 009 dizzie, but now back to standard.

Re: Fuel Consumption What mpg are people getting
I get 640km to a fill up, usually around 55-58 litres, nearly a full tank. I drive a westfalia which has an after market high-top, with a JR engine with no history. Top speed 60mph and hates going up hills.

Re: Fuel Consumption What mpg are people getting
Hi!
In the past two weeks I ran 4.75km/L!!! (13.4 miles per imperial gallon or 11.2 miles per US gallon) It has been down to minus 10 degrees Celcius here in Bergen (Norway) and I guess is because I spend some time warming up in the morning and just short trips.
I have a 1.9 DG engine block, but with 34PICT carburator.
Probably bad mixture adjustment? No evident leaks or fuel smell.
Is anybody in cold climates getting some values now?
Thanks!
Andres Castro

Re: Fuel Consumption What mpg are people getting
Hi,
I've had 15.2 mpg (in my 2.1dj high top with twin webers and an after market exhaust) for town driving over the last few weeks which includes warming the engine in the cold snap and 24 mpg cruising at around 55 on the motorway and A roads. From what i've read in this post i think it's about average.
