TV aerial, not camping.

Post by kentishvanman »

Hi,
Need help please from the electronic tech experts.
Have purchased one of those £6+ aerials mentioned elsewhere on the forum.
Works fine in the camper with the Avtex
Question. Could I use it with a 240v TV which only has 2 HDMI sockets on the rear. The aerial needs to be connected to a usb socket ie can one get usb to HDMI adapters. I don't even know if usb and HDMI are compatible.
Thanks

They're not

USB is power and does data transfer according to one standard, HDMI, is a purely audio/video data transfer medium that carries no power.

You can get the 5v you need from a mains USB charging plug.

You can. As long as you have a USB point. As mentioned you can use a 240v USB adaptor. something like this.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-Power-Su ... ctupt=true" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Double check your TV as sometimes they will have a USB service port - ie not used for playing content etc but may still provide you with power.
Or as previously stated a simple plug in USB psu will do the job.
If you want a neater solution you could always replace or have replaced your socket on the wall with one with a built in USB power port.

Hi,
I get there eventually. Dont laugh to loudly at my stupidity.
I have just cottoned on. The usb on the aerial lead is to give power to said aerial. I was thinking that it was for transferring 'stuff' from aerial to tv. We have adapters that we use for the mobile phones.
Some are born daft. Others work at it.
