Re: 5kw Fuel air heater
For cold climes warming up the engine prestart/ quicker warm up. A lot of them in Russian T3 vans. Anyone could specify them ( if they knew about them!).
They are now using Webasto Thermotops@ 5Kw - tied in to the canbus/ various modules etc. Supposed to operate at 3° or below. No good as a camping heater really as they have a 1 hr. runtime ( Can be modified though ) and they run from the vehicle battery.
BA4 were used for Beetles etc. PA1052 were used for Beetles also.

Re: 5kw Fuel air heater
Excellent heater once you have decided where to put the heater it's a very simple installation the operating instructions is a different thing had to look on YouTube for videos about how to operate it consumption is very good run for 4 to 41/2 hours on 550mls of diesel on its lowest settings which it's warm enough for me the only thing I need to do is work out how to change the temperature from Hz to Celsius on the lcd

Depends on the controller, one of them is to press the up and down buttons at the same time.clone123 wrote: I need to do is work out how to change the temperature from Hz to Celsius on the lcd

Hi thanks for the reply tried holding the up and down buttons on temperature control at the same time but nothing happens from the research I've done there is two types of LCD screen I may be wrong but that's all I can see mine is the one with the up and down temperature and the on and off button on the right-hand side of the lcd screen

Re: 5kw Fuel air heater
Temperature in Hz? That isn't a normal way of stating temperature unless you are a clever scientist dealing with energy surely.

Re: 5kw Fuel air heater
Believe me I'm no scientist but that's what it says on the screen the temperature in the van at the moment is Celsius but the one you set it to 2 reach is in Hz for some reason

Re: 5kw Fuel air heater
Are you sure that it isn't displaying the frequency of the fuel pump pulses, I have a feeling that is an option on some of those screens. I had one of those controllers for testing but it gave up its life force after a few hours of toying with it!

Re: 5kw Fuel air heater
If you are getting a Hz readout the controller is in constant heat mode , not thermostat mode
From the manual
From the manual
Temperature control mode switch
In unset state, first press the up regulation button, keep on and press
the confirm button, show P-x.x (xx mean pump capacity), means enter
into the manual temperature control mode. The oil pump capacity is controlled between present capacity and initial capacity. Press number 2, show xx°C, means enter into the auto temperature control mode. The oil pump capacity is controlled between maximum capacity and initial capacity. The oil pump capacity of these two model according to the temperature variation. The difference is that, the oil pump capacity of auto mode can achieve the maximum. The manual model is limited in the present set point, can’t achieve the maximum.

Re: 5kw Fuel air heater
In my mind hertz would mean fan speed rather than temperature, which coincides with what you're saying with tapping the up arrow. Would imagine you'd be able to set both temp and fan speed separately so it's just working out how to switch between them.

Re: 5kw Fuel air heater
The P is a clue that it is possibly Pump/Pulse. The fan would rotate faster and the heat increase with the pulse increase, that is how they work! 5.5 Hz would be boost setting. Smaller Webastos run at 1.5 to 2 Hz at full chat, you just don't see it on the controller but I can see the Hz when I have them hooked up to the computer.
Hertz would not be fan speed - Webastos run at 4750 rpm at max speed. 5Hz will only give you 300 rpm! ( A weak fart of air throughput )

Example of the Hz on a Webasto - fuel pump.

Re: 5kw Fuel air heater
So it's ok to run it like that. And should I put any kind of detector in the van for this.

Re: 5kw Fuel air heater
Who knows!
Some of these Chinese electronics are absolutely impossible to work out and their instructions ( if any ) only serve to confuse matters more. I am sure that their brains are wired differently to ours or their education system and characters for writing leads them to see things in a different way. I don't understand all the different symbols that people use on their electronic devices - most probably because I am of that older generation.
What sort of detector are you thinking of? Heat output?
