T25 "camping"

Hi all,
I have the chance to buy a T25 which has been fire damaged.
Possibly restorable but more likely for spares,
On the tailgate it is badged as "CAMPING" in the correct lettering to match the VW font.
Can anyone say who did this conversion or offer any links, I am curious to find out where the van was converted.
It's air cooled and on a W reg.

It's a stock VW badge. Stick some pictures up, and someone will identify the type for you.

My '81 Autohomes Kamper has one, but as has been said I don't think they were exclusive to Autohomes by any means.
Try this site to identify your conversion - loads of info there...

My 1980 Westfalia Joker ( Aircooled) has the same badge. I think they were used on all the official camper conversions?

What do you mean by "official" ? My Autosleeper does not have one & I haven't seen another with one

I meant the firms like Westfalia who got the vans direct from the factory. But, it's just an assumption...

I thought that they had Kamping on the rear rather than Camping. I must admit that is what I have seen on some, presumably the Camping badge is a UK converter add on?

Not the first time this has come up

http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=136008

I looked in my own early brochures and the only badges were Transporter and Bus. Apparently Autohomes and Devon were the only VW approved UK converters so I suspect only approved converters got supplied with the Camping badges, or Kamping on the continent.

It's a theory :)

In that case it's Camping weltweit :)

On a side note, I can find my camping badge, my Volkswagen badge has done a runner though. Found this

Looks it should be feasible to print a new one - might be spending tonight figuring out how to do that. NOS badges are £40 and they aren’t even the correct one.

They have the newer rear but not the early rear Volkswagen - mine was like the link I posted. Likely I have it somewhere, pulled it to cover up the rust years ago

Looks like folks on the samba started down this path before.

Ending thread hijack now. I suspect though they maybe didn’t print the posts. I will experiment once I can find somewhere reasonable to print them for me
