What did I buy from ebay years ago

Post by JonB »

When I got my first van I spotted a listing for JX tools and subsequently won the auction. Years later and on the second van I'm just wondering what I actually bought.

I think they're for engine timing, big 27mm socket, blue bar with pins that look like they turn a cog, another socket attachment for turning something, metal bar which I think check a setting and finally a nicely finished metal object which might keep something in place.

Any ideas?Image

It looks like you have a pin to lock the crankshaft (no. 2  ) Number four looks like it may be used for the cv joint bolts, number three is used during the locking for a timing belt change with number two. Number five a complete guess but possibly to do with re-shimming the valves on a diesel .

All just guesswork :run

Ha ha I'm only a 3 out of 5 spanner on the Haynes manual scale. Fortunately I have a good garage down the road to get the more complex bits done for me.

Thanks for the identification, all makes sense and hopefully if/when the time comes I'll have the confidence and time to follow the various guides/manuals.
