Dyeing/Painting Westy Poptop Flocking

Post by Dollytony »

The interior flocking in my Westy poptop is very stained with mould etc, even after cleaning it still looks dirty.

Can anyone recommend a paint or dye that can be used, I am thinking of dyeing it a dark colour to hide the staining.

Thanks

I scraped mine off and then lined it with stretch fabric. Needed to take the poptop off to do it, looks good though.

Cheers for the reply, I think that is the best solution, but not one I want to do at the moment.

What was it like scraping the flock off, was it easy?

I used acetone and steel wool which made it pretty easy. It’s not that major a process to be honest. Removing the tent is the hardest bit, I replaced my tent sane time as it was dead

I've used bathroom mould killer on my pop top flock with good results. Most have some bleach in so protect canvas and upholstery etc. Spray on in small areas, dab to clean and then dab off with clean water

Hi
I used mould and mildew cleaner by Astonish.
It worked a treat and gave perfect results on my westfalia.
My flock was very stained and came up new, sprayed on lots and left overnight then wiped with a clean dry cloth. :ok
