Old, new beetle hassle!! Tech help!

A friend of mine has bought a 54 plate beetle cab. Sadly the near side rear window has decided to open and refuse to go back up again. Not a big issue in the sunshine but, sunshine ain’t gonna last forever...

Anyway, she’s been to a couple of garages and they reckon she’ll need to replace the motor, regulator and glass to fix it. Seems a bit ott when it’s just the regulator that’s gone (can stilll hear the motor running when the switch is pressed). Anyone got any experience with this and suggestions how to proceed?

Cheers!

Yeah, I realise that. I just figured people don’t tend to have just one vw so it was worth a punt.

I have a vw eos which had window issues, mine runs off cables and they are prone to snap, just buy another regulator ,don't buy the cheap ones of eBay go genuine.
