Use the proper sized cable, matching eyelets and tools - crimping wins out. With a good fit and the right power there isn't an opportunity for moisture wicking etc.

I used to solder everything but not anymore. For big stuff I use one of the hydraulic crimpers as listed above. If you put a junior hacksaw through one of those crimps all the copper strands have melded into one. Awesome kit for the money.

Crimp them.

Get a hydraulic crimping tool which you can use in situ if needed.

Choose the correct blind tube terminals and heat shrink eliminates any moisture ingress.

Got a 10 ton crimper. What a revelation. Knock the scissor type one I had into a cocked hat. Cheers

Having worked on platforms on shore, off shore as an E&I tech can't remember the last time, if ever someone said lets use a soldering iron when terminating stuff..

What crimper would you reccomend for smaller crimps. My cheapo one doesn’t seem to hold that well, wondering if better ones are available

The hydraulics do go down to quite small size dies-6mm in mine.

For smaller stuff get the proper terminals like BW do and use ratchet crimpers with the correct ‘f’type jaws. I use a ‘laser’ set that were about 20quid and they’re great.

This is really interesting from a certain point of view, molex handbook on crimp terminals sadly I found the NASA one too
