Think the insurance will want to write off as until they start stripping they won't know how much £££ they will be into with unknown wiring damage etc.

However... agree with others the photos do not look bad at all.

I would agree that if the insurance approved garage will not repair on grounds of hazardous material then the salvage cannot be worth £3k. On acceptance of a deal it will likely be on the register as a loss so that needs to be taken onboard when considering buying back.
Time to haggle - get them down on the buy back, and if the total payout makes sense then away you go.
