Carpet Lining Shedding

The ceiling lining of my camper keeps shedding bits of dust/fibre whenever it is touched. I would rather not have to replace the entire thing due to the cost and time involved and was wondering if there was an alternative solution to clean it, even just in the short term, whether this is a sealant spray or cleaner etc. I have tried vacuuming it but this doesn't seem to get rid of it all.

any advice would be great.

Sounds like mine, totally ancient! I'm just putting up with it until I refurbish the interior.

Must be an age thing, I was just searching the forum yesterday for the very same problem.

Trying to work out the best way to replace, worried about condensation. I have a load of closed cell foam about 1/2 inch thick (from another project) that may be suitable, toying with idea of sticking it straight on to the Fiberglas (Hightop) and then covering with 4way stretch Lining material

Try painting it with PVA wood glue it dries clear and remains flexible.

We had this problem when we bought our van. We were going to use it for the summer then do a full refit but it was that bad our solution was to gut the whole van and start from scratch. We're not that far off now, can't wait to get it on the road and start using it. We found the new carpet really easy to fit.

our t 25 was lined with corded carpet that has been slowly deteriorating for a long time , every time you brush it with your head or other body parts there would be clouds of dust , ( very nasty to inhale ) .

as i have been renovating our van over the last 12 months , the offending crap was ripped out ( face mask worn throughout process ) then vaccuumed out and blown out with the compressor ( the dust is a severe chest irritant ) .

i have just finished re doing all the roof lining and interior panels on our devon moonraker , i used veltrim as it comes highly recommended as is the same stuff as used in our nextdoor neighbours £40 k t6 camper so its good enough for me , it also looks great .

just hope it doesnt start to de grade over the next few years.
