sliding door seal

Hi just a bit more advice needed just got this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sliding-door- ... JCV0krIHnQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for my van when I got it it never had one so what I need to no is there is a flat spot on it about 5 inch long which side of the door does it go on is it on the left hand side of the opening next to the passenger door or the right hand side where the lock is and i think i need to cut it as I have it on now it looks to big by about 10/12 inchs where is the best place to cut it if I have to.

The flat area is for the front lock catch, do not cut , fit it first without stretching the seal and see what its like. Ive only fitted genuine seals so cant comment on the fit of repro ones.

Ok that's why I was asking don't want to cut till I new which side that flat part went on thanks
