Heat Riser Elbows, Removal

VW T25 1980 petrol air cooled.

I will need to replace the heat riser elbows, how ever I can't see what type of fasteners are holding them in place?
Looks like it could be a large Philips drive?

But with the rust and the awkward location it's hard to figure. If someone could give me a heads up that would be a real bonuse.
