My 16 inch wheel should to blame?

So Iv got a 1.6 CT engine in my bus, the engine is a refurbished unit and runs brilliantly no worries there, but It’s allways be slow (durrr) and pricey on fuel with my high top roof etc, but more importantly the van really really doesn’t like hills and it dawned on me...maybe the 16 inch wheels that have been on the bus the whole time I had it are to blame. Could it be that the difference in wheel size (not running low profile tyres either) could be causing the weakness on the hills and may be the extra fuel cost because of the flooring it required?.

It all depends on the tyre size. You can use a tyre size calculator/comparison site to see the difference between yours and stock. Also it may not be the original engine/gearbox combination, and one or both may have been changed. Whatever you do, driving a CS is very much an accelerator "on or off" experience, it's more of a switch than a progressive thing, (like a dodgem, and about the same speed). However, they are also famously economical compared to all other variants of T3s. If you're not getting high 30s mpg there's something wrong.

Thanks for the reply guys

Yeah it’s an air cooled CT engine that’s right, although I have owned a cS engine and know exactly what you mean, I would say that my bus is actuly slower up a good hill than the CS I had.

would you happen to be able to recommend a tyre comparison website?

Thanks bat

Some I’m guessing the right stock tyres or my van should be 195 65 14 or somthing then right?

If so I have a 10.51% increase in diameter at 61mm so that’s large change an will be causing me issues with over gearing right?, that explains the hill problems wouldn’t you say?
