All 4 wheels off !

Post by Hdog13 »

I'm about to take my alloys off to get them powder coated and just after any advice. I need to take all 4 off at once so was thinking put the bus on 4 axle stands ! Is this best practice?

Yes, as long as it is on level hard ground.

I left my van for years on 4 axel stands. Just need to make sure it’s safe and away from kids playing etc. That or you may find 4 metal spare wheels for sale somewhere for cheap. Stick them on whilst your wheels are away.

Paint is better than powder coating, it cures harder and lasts longer. My powder coated wheels bubbled in about 18 months. Could have been the quality of workmanship.
a painted rim is much easier to touch up if it gets scratched

Interesting, my powder coated steels look bad now after about 2 years. Rear ones worse for whatever reason. I think I'll grind off the rust then and paint them. What's your chosen wheel paint jimsan? (Spray can?)

My current wheels I had painted professionally, brand new Mefros acid stripped and prepped then painted, 15 months ago approx, so far so good.

If I was going to do them I'd use spray can.
