Grease leak on rear wheel

Post by aisha »

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted on here in a while (that must be a good sign?) but I wanted to ask your opinions on this before I take it to a mechanic:
I took the van out on a really rainy evening recently - huge deep puddles of water on the road, and the next day I noticed grease had leaked out onto the alloy wheel. I'm a bit weary of the bearings on these wheels - I had this one replaced two years ago but before that I had a few in quick succession (that could have been due to a bad mechanic fitting them poorly)
Anyway I jacked up the rear of the van and shook the wheel and there is some play, but I would say a normal amount, and it seems to spin freely... so is this just due to the deep puddles? (Wheel is also nearside to the keen so would have been in the deeper puddles)

Thanks in advance!

So I'm guessing this has baffled everyone else! I'll take the wheel off tomorrow and see what awaits...
