Tyre help please.

Post by Smosh »

Hi all,

I am looking to put some new wheels on the van- 15" empi style wheels. They currently have no tyres - and I have no idea what to go for. I spoke to one tyre place locally who suggested
'Normal 195/70-15C @£69.00 mid range or £56.00 budget An option is 205/70-15C @ £82.00 mid range or £56.00 budget'

Price-wise is this acceptable, there are only 3 options over here for tyres?

Size wise is this about right?

My van is currently lowered ~50mm on standard 14" wheels. The van is used as a daily driver and will only see the occasional mild track / field. I don't think I am overly concerned about gear ratios / speedo accuracy at present if I have a slightly larer overall diameter. I would like to fill the arches more.

Thanks,

Josh

Dont go too wide if you havnt got power steering, 205 could be feel a bit heavy.

Order online from camskill.co.uk and get them fitted locally? I would be thinking about 195/80r15 if you want larger diameter, maybe 4x4 road tyres.

I've just had some Nexen Roadian AT tyres fitted to a set of wheels (205/70/r15 104/102) the previous weekend. Not fitted to the van yet but look pretty good, not an aggressive tread and at a few pence over £60 fitted, balanced and valve I think they're pretty reasonable from mytyres.co.uk (delivered from germany).

I read on various threads here people being pleased with them, I've taken a bit of a gamble going from a 195/75 but I think it should be fine.

I know one of the local places refuses to fit tyres bought from elsewhere. I havent tried the others, but I suspect the fitting and disposal charges would even them out. About £60-£70 a corner then and prob best with 195's. I do have to parallel park in small spaces daily

Thanks for the help :ok
