Sliding door will hit new wheels. Help needed.

Post by Rustychops »

Hi all, I am in the process of putting new wheels on my t25 84 b reg.
I still have to fit new longer rear studs in order for them to work but I did a temp fit on one of the tears and the sliding door hits the tyre.
Wheels are 16x8 et11.
I have the old style sliding door if that helps.
Is this a job I can do or is there somewhere or someone in London who could help me overcome this.

Thanks in advance.

You can buy an extension arm for the slider from brickwerks.

At ET 11, I would be really concerned about my front suspension and the stresses it is under from an out of spec wheel

Those must be old Merc wheels? Slap up a pic of whats going on.
205's on 6.5" x 15" ET30 only just clear the standard slider so 8" ET11 must be fouling by a mile.

I bought the wheels off a guy who had them on his t25. He wasn't sure if his door had been modified but I am still waiting for pics from him.
I will post a picture up of the wheels. Don't have one of the wheel and door at the moment as I only had the wheel on temporary at the weekend. I intend to put it all on with longer studs this week sometime.

Can you please send me the link for the extended arm from brickwerks?

Thanks

Nice deep dish, like a Scorpio Cosworth. Is there a maker's mark on the rim or on the back, maybe near the centre?
8" x 16" up front will always give problems, getting it all between the arch and the top wishbone is tight even with 7" x 17" in my exp.

I prefer the Rover wheeltrims, on wheels that fit and look right. Just saying...

The wheels just say KBS made in Italy on the back.
Do you think I will have big problems with these wheels then?
They were taken of a t25 and the man said they were fine.

Must admit, ET11 is extreme. I'm using ET25 and thats already pushing the boundaries of acceptability. It'll be a pain to steer beyond straight ahead.

Well they will fit.
And they look great

But as for practicality, It depends on just how much you're prepared to give up.

..and how much faff you want on your hands to fit them

Always ask "if the parts fitted ok, then why are they for sale?"
I have never heard of KBS myself. A quick google reveals them to be in Singapore... they appear to be big on the BMW scene (and beemers do run quite low ET iirc)
Are they even the correct 5x112 pcd?

Yes they say 5x112 pcd on them.
It's a shame if they are going to be a bugger.
The sliding door is a big issue too!

Maybe I may swap them or sell them and get another set of wheels.

Is there a bracket to buy off the shelf for the sliding door?

You have to cut part of the slider runner off the van shorten it by the ammount you have lengthened the arm and reweld. Back on,nothing on the shelf and as has been said ,a pig to drive will no doubt foul stuff sell them back to the vendor

I think I am going to stick with them and see if it works ok, if not I can always replace them.

Anyone in the London area or near that can sort the hinge for me.
