This topic regularly surfaces in the syncro pages, because of the trouble encountered when trying to cram an oversize tyre into the standard clamshell, when fitted.
This is my experiences with a couple of photos to show the key differences. If you know of any other variants then please join in!
Firstly, a standard 185 (non-safety latch?) one that came off an unmolested RHD 2WD singlecab, factory galvanized too!
Note the almost flat profile of the catch:

Secondly, a 205 type from my 1995 SA 2.6i which just about accommodates a 205/65/15 (but it does have a good sized dent, must fix that!)

I understand that the wires for each are also different. Does anyone else know of further variations?
