Brakes not great

Post by CamMoore »

Hey guys,

I just purchased another T3! It is a 84 1.9L camper (Trakka fitout here in Australia). I also have a 91 Panel 2.1L.

The brakes in the 91 are MUCH better than the 84. Did they change the break systems at all over the years? I had a good VW mechanic look at it when I purchased it and he said the pads were pretty new. So I'm thinking it could be the rear drums?

Should I just swap the breaks over? Or is there a good upgrade available?

Any help would be appreciated

Rear brakes stayed the same through the years except for some Syncro models. Front brakes changed from twin piston to single piston calipers but work equally well. Something may be wrong or type of brake pad/shoe material can have noticeable affects on brake performance.
