Undervan Storage

Post by mshaw1980 »

I see that there are decent underslung water tanks that are useful for our vans however has anybody ever used / made an underslung storage box? As we have a pop top roof I am trying to think of extra ways to store stuff out of our way. We have a handy seat / storage box which is great but there is a lot of space underneath between the chassis rails that could be used so wondered if anybody has done this or have any ideas?
Thanks

Hi, we have a roof rack, swing away wheel carrier, a Jerry can holder on the ladder and also folding panniers on the opposite side to the slider. We have a 55ltr range fuel tank to fit underneath at some point.

Doesn't Dai have storage boxes dropped into the floor of his Syncro?

He does, accessed from inside the van by the slider and from outside on the other side. Tom Middleton has undervan lockers too.

I have an unused water tank fitted underneath, we never used the water from it, and I’ve been considering using it to store tow rope etc . Cut and hinge a section so I can retrieve items easily.

I've looked at this a few times, might try the ammo box option to see how it goes. I don't fancy cutting into my floor just yet.

It's not me, it's the wife and kids....

That said we have kids seats in the back so a bit of a pain to take seats out in order to get to tools etc. in that big cavernous space under the seats. I was looking at underslung storage for stuff like levelling ramps, and a water tight box for other bits.

Put a hatch into the underneath seat storage! No need to lift the seat at all then.

Also, if you have a rear spare wheel carrier, then you can stick a Trasheroo on it for a bit more space.
