Rock and roll bed mattress

Post by bradders89 »

Has anyone bought the foam mattress from jk? If so how comfortable are they?

Don't really want the faff of having to carry a memory foam topper with me everywhere. Was thinking of getting a king foam mattress from ikea and cutting it into sections to use with the rock and roll bed as I know there pretty comfortable as used one in the past.

Use an electric bread knife to cut foam and let it cut rather than force it through.

How thick is the question I ask?

Our local bed store has roll up mattrasses 140 x 200 x 10cm for 40 yoyos, too thin or ?

I used 4" Blue foam from here:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UPHOLSTERY-F ... 1366922493

The big sheet did the whole rock n' roll + the back cushion with plenty spare.

Easily cut with a sharp bread knife: Bernie shows you how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xne0qjhFVNY (found out the hard way it is not easily cut with a blunt bread-knife  )

How thick did you go with the foam and was it like to sleep on?

It’s the 4” (10cm) thick stuff and to be honest it’s dead comfy. The blue foam if the firmest one. We tend to put a 1” memory foam topper over when we sleep but it’s not strictly necessary (my wife prefers it).

Hey! I'm looking at getting some foam cut right now for this exact purpose. I've heard before that the blue foam is a bit too firm for sleeping, but suits sitting. Is that the general consensus or is this just subjective? I may need to add the extra layer of memory foam as suggested above if so.

I'm looking here btw if anybody's familiar? Open to suggestions on elsewhere though.

I stuck one-inch memory to three-inch yellow foam. And had covers made to fit.
