lifespan of carpet lining

Post by weimarbus »

How long should the carpet lining last? I last trimmed the inside of our camper 8 years ago and it is now shedding fibres like a snow storm to the extent that it could be considered a health hazard, is this just my bad experience or has anyone else had this? What is the alternative?

It will probably depend on what was installed.

I can't answer your question, but let eveyone know what you bought so they will know it's likely to last 8 years :ok

I used generally available stretch carpet, as stocked by many outlets, the original lining that I did lasted for around 10 years before shedding as this is now and was supplied by 'Bilbos', current lining supplied by a commercial van converter, minibuses etc in kent.

Mine was the original so older but degrading into almost like dust and fibres, not nice at all. I removed it all and redid all the interior fabric sections with a good quality embossed vinyl. Been eight years and still looks good, easy to clean, looks better and hardwearing.
