Refurbish or replace Lining

Post by islandboy »

Got top half of van all stripped out ready for some welding and need to be doing something with the lining.
The conversion is an Autosleeper.

What is currently on the van is a thin needlecord carpet type lining as in the picture.

Can this be cleaned up and any recommendations on how.
Is it better to replace and any idea who stocks this material

Many thanks

If you've already stripped it out I would definitely say replace it, if it's not already shedding fibres I bet it would be soon after putting it back up.

I got some colour samples from this place:

http://www.harrisonstrimsupplies.co.uk/ ... -113-p.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It looks like most places supply the same material in the same colours so have a look on Amazon & Ebay and go for best value

Cheers

looks like standard carpet that was available in those days. IMO better to use more contemporary materials

You could very well be correct with that observation. My friend said it was exactly like the cheap stuff they used to ( and probably still do) put down in flats when they were getting new tenants in. !

Hi,
The carpet is readily available but it varies quite a bit in price so shop around.
You might want to consider some form of insulation either before the carpet or alternatively you could use a foam backed. carpet.

i've removed all off mine due to a vehicle respray and poptop fitment.
got two sample cards from Harrision Trim fix . ill be using a non perf black leatherette ( sort of orig ) and a suedeliner for the roof .

cant see the point in trying to keep it .. give it a freshen up.

All around the windows on our van i reupholstered using cream leather, which i cut from a quality three piece suite which i was taking to the tip for my sister. Right up my street this sort of recycling, stuck it on with evo stick, looks great still after a few years. :ok
