Rock and Roll bed fitting

Hi folks. I am not at the point where I need to fit my rock and roll bed. I have the hinges and the ply. I also have an idea for the cushions. My query is: Is there a simple way to work out measurements and the way to fit it all together? I just want to fit it all together using the ply and then I can work the upholstery later. A some of you know I have struggled with putting the seat up and down to make/unmake the bed. (I daren't mention my physical difficulties for fear of getting the usual cretins making nasty comments). However I made up a simple 'model' and it worked so easily with little effort. I just need a simple way to put this into a full sized workable unit. Thanks for any helpful advice.

Been there, done that. What I did was make a 'test' seat using scrap ply to start with. Make the bed/seat say two foot wide (max) and adjust/modify until you're happy with the way it works, then scale up to full width when you've got the hinge position spot on.

I think I got my scrap ply from a skip. You just need enough to test it out. I've since fitted an expensive one, but clearly remember that being the best way to get seat right. That way it didn't matter if I had to move the bolt holes for adjustment.

Thanks for that CovKid. I did a mock up yesterday and it worked a treat. It's the actual fitting of the hinges to the van I'm not sure about. I actually dreamed of the job last night and it went perfectly!

Which hinges? All the ones I know fit to bed/seat only

I used JK hinges. Like CovKid I worked through trial and error. Once happy, I constructed the base and attached this to the floor and the bulkhead. My van being ex bundeswehr had mounting strips on the floor and on the bulkhead.

Hmmm. Well they worked. I had some similar in a van I bought for spares a few years ago. This setup is the easiest I've ever used. It is a very simple one handed operation, works a treat. I got them from a good friend, Jeff, of Chapel Camper Hire

I'll try to post a video of it in use when I find the time.
