HELP NEEDED!!!

Post by niallheeney »

Hi all, I am completely new to the VW T25 world, I recently purchased a 1983 Hi top with my girlfriend as I am sure like a lot of you we fell in love with the look of them. We do however, know little to nothing about them. I am currently in the process of renovating it and there are a few things I would massively appreciate some help with!

1. What kind of model is ours, apart from it was made in 1983 and is a Hi top this is all I know, I have seen on this website people naming all theirs as different types/conversions etc, I would love to know more about mine...

2. This white electrical box is by the sliding door on the passenger side, it is wired up to my Zig unit however I have no idea what it would be used for, any ideas?

3. This is on the driving side exterior and is connected to the sink, it is also wired up to my zig unit so my guess is a water pump. I tried to connect a hose to it however the standard hose was too big. Again any help please.

Hope this all makes sense.

Regards,

Niall Heeney

Sorry, can't help with what conversion it is.

2- is a 12v dc connector usually used to give you an external 12v supply to stuff... anything you want really as long as it doesn't take too much current.
Yours seems to have "pump" written on it so it' might be for a submersible pump in an external water tank.

3- does this connect direct to the tap? hard to tell from the pic if it's a pump or not. if it's a pump for an external tank it would take a lot of priming.
might just be a hose connection point with a pressure switch for a submersible pump.

Have you got any interior shots? It often give a better idea of the conversion.

Your high-top looks 'similar' to ours. Ours was a 1981 Autohomes pop-top, but at some stage had an Empi high-top fitted.

Think you might mean EMC hi top Mike, which is what we have , very similar but without the round window at the back.
As Mike says some pictures of the interior might give a better idea,

Thanks for the help all, t'is much appreciated! Whilst I am in the renovation process is there anything you guys would strongly recommend doing/installing? The zig unit is all good to go and I have just purchased a new leisure battery.

1- Here are some photos of the interior as it was when we got it. Unsure if its a proper conversion or just done by an owner.

2- Will have to see what use I can put it to then.

3-Here is a photo of the interior part of it, the hose does indeed go to the tap.

Thanks again all,

BigbadBob is right Found this in t'internet looks like the connection you have. It's says,

Owners of caravans with an electric water system have an external pump (pictured) but caravans with foot pumps have a simple pipe.
