Which fridge (replacing RM212)
Hi Guys
We're replacing the old tired interior in our camper and we need a new fridge. The Van had an RM212 three way fridge which we'd like to replace. Has anyone got any recommendations?
Thanks
Ben

Before you lob it at the dog, I'm trying to get a replacement igniter for my RM212. Is your's piezo lighting or electronic ?

Mines a Piezo igniter. It's yours if you want it but I'm not letting it go until I've found a replacement fridge as this one may it have to go back in if we don't find a suitable replacement.

Re: Which fridge (replacing RM212)
Well, I don't know if there is anything really wrong with it really... We bought a T25 and found that the inside was a bit rougher than we thought so have decided to rip everything out and start fresh. The racks in the fridge were peeling and rusting, and it generally looked shabby. I've only tried it on gas and it lit but didn't seem to get cold, I only left for 10-15 minutes though as by that point I had made the decision to replace it.
I thought the RM212's we're old and unsupported by the manufacturer so thought We'd get something a bit newer. I understand that more modern built vans use 12v compressor fridges and was wondering what other peoples thoughts were on them or if I should stick to a three way fridge?
Thanks
Ben
Sorry I couldn't help with igniter, good luck with the search...

10 to 15 mins is not enough, I'd run it overnight with a thermoteter inside and some water in the freezer.
you can pick up replacement shelves and doors on ebay.

Re: Which fridge (replacing RM212)
I have one. It will eat battery's if on 12v. Three way is best as I run mine on gas most of the time but 12v when traveling and 240v when plugged in. I'm quite pleased with mine. Small and old but works and fits!!!

Me too but run on gas while driving so I don't stress the alternator and battery. Works fine after 30 years because no moving parts, I wonder how long modern compressor fridge will last?
Re: Which fridge (replacing RM212)
I find the gas tends to go out when driving????? That's the only reason. Oh and to drain the batteries sometimes so the solar has something to do from time to time.

So I gave the fridge a proper test last night and it does work as it should on gas (not tried 240 or 12 volt yet) so we're going to keep it and replace the shelves and the door.
