'The Cupboard' - finished custom built by mother & daughter

Post by BohemiVan »

Finally, after one month of spare time and about €120, the cupboard is finished :D

Excellent! That looks really good, although for me it would just be something else to bang my head on in the confines of the van......but I suppose that it just me being a clumsy oaf :rofl

It is good to see that you had plenty of help from your daughter and dog (our dogs are pretty experienced in supervisory roles too).....and that the cuddly toys now have somewhere to live!

A good job well done :ok

Thank you :D

The cupboard only extends about one quarter of the way into the van so doesn't have too great an impact on its spaciousness. As it's impossible to stand under it (you can only sit under it), we have found we don't bang our heads on it either. One reason why I ran it all the way to the back of the van was for this reason....plus I definitely didn't want a corner to hit myself on. You can't really stand in the van anyway so it's been designed for sitting and lying down comfort instead. I wanted to keep the floor as free as possible so we sacrificed some ceiling area. I can still use the van as a work van too, which was a priority as most of the time it's just for transportation. We're not going to have a rock n roll bed. We're just going to push a box or table up to extend the raised platform at the back.

I have two dogs but the other one wouldn't fit into the cupboard

Thanks for the feedback. Not very forthcoming around here  I really must talk about rusty nuts more often. That must be it

Looks great, if we had a blank canvas we'd like to have something like that. As it is we have a pop top with the original Autosleeper interior, keep thinking about removing the cupboard behind the passenger seat to make a bit more room-don't think we would miss the storage as we seem to fill every cupboard with crap we never use!

Looks good, much more fun doing your own custom interior.

Being one to take risks with interiors, I say take it out but keep it just in case you change your mind.

Thanks for the compliment. Much more to come.....oh crumbs

It's as fun as it is stressful, which explains why I am now a laughing nervous wreck

I had thought I would feel better when...drum roll....The Cupboard...was finished, but of course the end of one milestone just means the start of another.

Fingers crossed :)

Nice work, looks great. :D
Gonna see if we've got room for one over the sink/hob without banging our heads.
Not sure I'd fit the greyhound in there though.

Probably if you can't stand under a cupboard because there's a sink under it then you won't bang your head on it. My cupboard feels like an aeroplane overhead locker. I will only bang my head on it when standing up after sitting under it. Hopefully, it won't take too may bangs before I get the hang of it

If you fold the greyhound well, you should get it in
