Gas Installation Questions

Post by philyoung »

Hi All

I'm planning the interior of my van (former ambulance) and wanting to fit a SMEV 9222 hob/sink unit. I'm going for a camping gaz 907 cylinder to make it easy to get refills in Europe and I don't expect to be using a lot of gas. I'm going to be building my own units.

There seems to be a lot of conflicting information on what is necessary for installation. I understand the bottle needs to be secured in a vented container but what exactly is needed for connection? Can I just use a simple regulator and flexible hose connection or do I have to have the truma type regulator with a gas test point and copper plumbing? Does it have to be inspected or certified?

Thanks for any help.

As you say there is a great deal of conflicting info. on this subject, personally I came to the conclusion it's your van & you can do what you want as long as it is safe. I think you will sleep better knowing it is right though, so if you have any doubt ask a caravan servicing company.
