Newbie wanting info on a drive away awning
Hi all, I have just joined and I am the other half. Hubby and I have a lovely t25 california and I'm looking for a drive away awning as we have just got another dog.
If you have any advice that would be great. Hubby will have to put it up himself as I am disabled so not able to help much.
Thank you

Khyam motordome is a genuine one person job to put up and take down. Quick too, but pricey. Good quality tho, and it may be worth paying for what works for you.

Yep... as above......Khyam with the "easy up" pole system is a doddle for one. We have got a screenhouse (which is just a drive-away without the van attachment) and I can put that up on my own
They are expensive but you could consider buying used if needed.
There are some on eBay at the moment....

Totally agree with above, Kyham Quick Erect system is excellent. We had one for years, "a classic" I think it was called, they do several models now. The classic was 3m x 3m plus 1m tunnel, you could easily stand up inside.
We had ours for about 5 years, used it for 4~5 weeks each year, touring all over so it was up and down every couple of nights. I could put it up on my own and get it connected to the van and the corners pegged in about 2 minutes, the ground sheet and remaining pegs used to take a further 15 mins.
Ours took one hell of a battering from the elements, us and the dogs and never leaked or broke (the elbows can break but are easily available - worth carrrying a spare).
down side - it's pretty heavy for the size. ground sheet is separate. It also doesn't pack down very small compared to outfits of a simillar size.
or..
If you want quick, the OzTent is up in 30 seconds! We have one now and in all hoesty 30 seconds is if you are taking your time. Pegged out in 5 minutes. Downside, it doesn't really attach other than by a canopy. It's also very heavy, very long when packed down and stupidly expensive. Bit of a pain to store as the bag is about 3m long and 400mm accrss. It is however very heavy duty and has a built in groundsheet.
It takes longer to get the tent in andout of the bag than it does to put them up.

Re: Newbie wanting info on a drive away awning
We've just swapped our elderly Kyham Motordome for a Kampa Air Action inflatable. Not used it yet but it's a doddle to erect and amazingly stable and rigid. Biggest issue for me with the Khyam was erecting it and then attaching to the van's awning rail and then pegging down. Not hard in good conditions but a bugger in any sort of wind! With the Kampa, attach the tunnel top to the awning rail first, peg down corners than inflate the air beams.
Really simple and quick

^^^ These look stunning when all set up, but the downside for me is how bulky they are for transporting.

It's a heavy bag but fits neatly across the back in the rear between the wardrobe and side
It was a trade off for me - I really liked them when I saw them and I didn't want a modern looking drive away - plus the wood burner makes all the effort worthwhile (especially early season) brrrrrr.

Blimey, big bit of kit then. Did you get it as the bundle? I see you have the wood burner
