Interior refit needed -recommendations please

Post by mr2allotments »

Hi

My 1986 T25 Autosleeper Trident is having a full re-spray in October and I think it'd make sense to get the interior done at the same time. It needs new fabric linings, new upholstery and the original cupboards/units could do with a bit of tlc.

Can anyone recommend a company who could do this for me, ideally based not too far from St. Albans, in Hertfordshire? My aim is to get them to remove the units, get the van re-sprayed, then return the van for the interior work.

Thanks

Chris

Saw your thread - sorry can't help with a contact name but found it interesting that we both have trident autosleepers - although mine is younger (but suspect I am older) plus I too have 2 allotments :D
I have my units out at the moment and was looking at what to do to tidy them up this morning before refitting next week. With all the wet a lot of the fibre wood has expanded and is mouldy in places. Also the unit is very heavy. Whilst I am a traditionalist I am sorely tempted (sometime in the future) to replace the Units with something more modern - Just Cooker, fridge and a little sink (A double unit) and to fit a bed that is the whole width of the van. The only difficult bit would be where to put the heater. But that is probably not essential and the previous owner never used it the whole time he had the van from new. When it goes back I am not initially refitting the tall wardrobe unit which is difficult to access and not much use and also weighs a ton.
Good luck

I have 'freshened up my autosleeper a few times.
The furniture is on the whole very sound, does not creak and is solid.
So not wanting to lose storage I tried various coverings to achieve various looks
Carol came to me looking very cottage kitchen.
And very 80's fabrics

so we decided to use modern vinyl and sticky back plastic

some more changes happened.. out went the Autosleeper livery

Image

in came the respray
First incarnation

final cut

and another interior revamp
This time we used paint and beetle headlining and gutted it first, then added some insulation and LPG

finaly we gave up the little propex and fitted a very luxurious Webasto 3.8kw heater .... then the last item to finish it all so we didn't have to camp on campsites we added a solar panel

Very nice making me rethink. LPG is a future must have.

Thanks.
Yes £900 LPG conversion well spent, our camping habits changed forever.
Oddly we bought a petrol driven van with a gas heater, now it's a gas driven van with a petrol heater. :D

Can I ask where you got your Webasto heater from, I am considering fitting a heater and looking at different options.

Thinking I'd like a refresh to the units. Any recommendations for sticky back plastic suppliers. Is it tough enough for a camper in daily use by a young family?

Bit more progress this weeked - wiring. Have a lot of lights to fit and associated switching, and hopefully make a start on worktops this evening, fit extra cupboard doors and box anything else in to tidy it all :D

Im drooling over jealosy here. I have 87 syncro wbx and i just NEED to have interior like that brown nice looking van. Currently i have is some sort of DIY mock up. except there is a crapload of storage space as the bed is 20cm higher leaving plenty of space underneath it.

How hard is the roof headliner to replace, for a newbie who has never done such a task? Windows need to be removed?

Hi Kevtherev,

We have a 1985 Autosleeper with upholstery just like yours! We've had a new bed made and so need the cushions reconfigured and so we're looking to get new seat cushions made and reupholstered driver & passenger seats too. Any recommendations for places to go for this?

Cheers,

Sarah
