After three weeks away, when we folded the bed back into a seat exactly zero times, I decided to extend the under bed storage, take the bed mechanism out and replace it with a basic mattress. I can now dispose of three of the four 35 liter boxes we take and have saved a whopping 70 pounds weight.

Not sure the 'budget' memory foam mattress bought on e bay is good enough but I can always add the topper I was having to use on the old bed as it was so uncomfortable.
