With a fridge this nice I think your front panel deserves a repaint.
Hi Rob. You are right about the front panel! I think it may have been left outside at some point in the past! The plan is for some serious bodywork in about two years time and then the interior will have to come out - that's when the panel will get cleaned up and repainted.
The crimping tool works by both hitting with a hammer and in a vice although I've only used the hammer method. The good thing is that it is spring loaded so it holds the connector in place while you are lining up the cable - you don't need three hands! Dodging bank holiday rain showers it suddenly dawned on me that now the old threeway fridge has gone there is, in effect, a hole in the side of the camper where the external vent is. Although this is partially covered by the vent cover it will still allow wet in behind the fridge leaving a dual potential nightmare of wet fridge electrics and creeping tin worm in what is already a vulnerable spot.
The answer for me was to cut out a piece of inner tube slightly bigger than the vent cover and then put it inside of the vent cover and its gasket then screw the whole three layers back down. As far as I can see its all now water tight again.

Do you mean the old flue outlet? If so, I cant see any rain water getting through there and into the van?
Hi richlaz. You are right - I am talking about the old flue outlet. I called it a vent because air came into the fridge as well as gases out. On mine though, with the original fridge removed, even with the outer cover on the flue outlet, there is still a way for rain to get inside - hence my sealing it off. Is this something to do with it not being an original Westy perhaps?

I think i'll go for a waeco fridge- i was initially concerned about the battery useage but with twin batteries and using hook up where possible it should be ok.
I've recently bought the new Waeco CRX50 fridge (£400 off ebay!). I'm planning to make a new fascia/ surround as Axeman has. Can anyone advise where to buy grey laminate?

From my past (half arsed) research it's pretty hard to find a matching grey laminate. Even the GoWesty stuff is a bit off. When I finally do this I've decided to get some paint made to match the grey, then spray paint the laminate to match exactly.
I've just checked out the Go Westy laminate, which is not a bad price, until the $75 shipping is added. I've emailed Jed at CVC to see if they can stock it.
