Cleaning expertly around the water cap it struck me that since owning this bus (2 years) we have never used the water container, or even used the sink! In the bay we had before we probably used the sink 4 times in as many years!
We use the van all the time, camping and festivals all summer, but use a plastic water container and washing up bowl.
Am I alone in this and missing a great feature?
I didn't like the massive water tank under the rear seat/bed, never sure how fresh the water was in there and it seemed impossible to clean, so I got rid of it and just have a portable water container under the sink but I've kept the pump/tap set up and I do use the sink and drainer for washing up.
I hate the idea of using the underslung tank on my autosleeper for drinking water. I carry a freshwater can and only use the underslung tank for washing up etc. I do keep filling and draining it though, when I set off and return home. However I forgot to take some fresh water to Aysgarth last weekend and used water from the underslung tank to make cuppa's and I'm still alive and kicking. Don't tell MarkFoss and JeffJ I used that tank though will you.!!
I love my underslung tank..and only wish it was bigger!
running out in france meant giving up prime wild camping spots.
Never had any bad tastes or dicky tummy.
It gets a sterilise every year.
Carrying big bottles just seems daft to me

The trick is to never leave it empty, and the movement when driving the van keeps fresh and clean
Obviously If you only use the van once a month then it needs emptying and refilling prior to each trip but as mine is a daily driver and used pretty much every weekend it's never been a issue
The storage is more important to me and the space under the van couldn't be used for anything else anyway and it keeps the water cooler than in the van
Puriclean and never Milton to clean the tank and pipes once a year by the way
There's a carbonate film on the surface which is poured away when used for sterilising bottles
In a tank it coats everything as the tank empties.
