Re-births like that are rare, Mmm the thought of gloss paint on the strut bracing.

Too kind gentlemen, too kind.

Gary did a brilliant job of taking my ideas and making them a reality.

If I were to wind back the clock, I would have made the sill reinforcements a little longer (I stitched those tubes together years ago!) and run right over/through the jp's and had round tubes welded in, but that's hindsight.

I think Gary would agree that had we realized it earlier, then it would have been quicker/easier to go down that route.

As it is, the swingarm mounts are standard, not specials, so it makes the mods a bit more discreet from the outside.

I'd rather have something thats a bit more like a fully loaded classic Range Rover: good for work, play and long-distance touring but still smart enough for going out once in a while.

Spoke to the paint man today about the Capri Blue code (LK5E) and a timeframe of 5weeks was mentioned :)
A little confusion as there was an older Type 1 Capri Blue L335 and its nothing like the same!

Same colour as mine! I can thoroughly recommend the ratio truck system from glasurit. Goes on a lot thicker than regular car paint because it’s designed for Commercial Vehicles. It isn’t that much more expensive than a decent 2k paint. Paint factors should be able to mix paint on the spot. 5 weeks seems unacceptable

Currently considering a pair of these, mounted either side of the rack/faring (with some mods) that went with the rooftent on the SA.

Being as this is syncro-specific...
I took a cutting disc to the early set of engine protection, after some careful consideration and measuring!
Mixed feelings about cutting them as they were in such good condition both outside and inside, but its done now.
Thanks to Aidan, Simon TMT and Neil for the tube cuts, Neil's was in the best condition regarding internal rust so that is now cut to length (less the welding seam allowance)
I still need a bit of 4mm steel plate 370x110 to bridge the gap but thats only a phone call away to the fabby shop.Image

Looking more like the part. It hogged up 2-3mm in welding but in my favour (towards the ground) and its still essentially flat not twisted. Once the 4mm plate is welded in, the two long seams will pull it back if they are laid on from the underside.ImageImageImageImageImage

A little more mocking up at the end of the day, this exhaust would never have cleared the engine bars even if it had any in the first place. It's a guide at best.
The nasty dent in #3 header suggests that it was never right anyway!
Also had a quote to remake the entire system (c/w cat and hangers in stainless) from Hayward & Scott...£1800 + vatImageImageImageImageImage
