Our syncro Caravelle

Just to add to the madness that is my motoring life - and nothing at all to do with any of the fat-tyred, jacked-up folks who I have met recently, or Camper and Commercial's recent articles (damn them!) or Jed's blatant self-publicity :D
A certain blue C reg Caravelle C twin slider (t&t) will be coming home to join our T3 fleet tomorrow. How timely is that for the 25 years?
Hope the drivetrain holds up as there's a transmission whirr with all forward motion...
Bought with eyes wide open, needless to say :shock:

Is it the one with the rock and roll bed in the back, 1.9 petrol engine? if so i nearly bought it a few months back before the previous owner bought it.

Make sure the pushrod tube guards are on too before you go off road as they were missing,

Was up for sale in Aldershot? That's the one. MG's old wagon. Lots of history. Unfortunately the mud tyres are gone too. I'll be shopping for more bits then...

Shame, I like to see others having their hopes & dreams shattered & savings destroyed by the cruel, hard world of Volkswagen Syncros. Makes me feel better about my own 'investment'!

is that why you were after a new front suspenshion set up? that rust dose not look too bad to me nothing a good strip down shot blast and podwer coat would not sort out.

Ahhh...the front suspension is for the continued evolution of the Microbru (tm) and that's a whole other project :roll:

It was mine in Aldershot. I got it from MG. It drives really nice. I was going to keep it & get it painted but a twin slider splitty came my way. I miss that van as it was good fun. I had a rear quarter welded in & it's pretty solid now. I love the twin slider thing, I have had a few now.

Not sure what the noise is, as it was fine before.

I still have the bits that came off it apart from the wheels & tyres & may be for sale if you want to make it look late.

You will have fun with it. There were some bash bars in the for sale area last week too.

No sooner did I buy the thing and park it over at a mates (no space on the drive just now, and he's in the trade)
then I start getting offers from interested 3rd parties - you'd never guess that there would be so much interest in syncros this year... well it is rhd I suppose :D

It's a pretty good van to be honest.

I would have it back if I didn't have a splitty that's about to consume it's own weight in cash!

Well I drove it back home on Sunday afternoon (only a couple of miles down the road) and good job too. The battery had just enough left for a few cranks and it fired up. So much for the solar panel...
It's just as I remembered it, no better, no worse - is that a good thing?
I'd say the driveway now looks like T3 heaven, but some would disagree. No DOKAs or Westys :lol:
