I definitely think it is worth saving but from your comments, i got the impression that was not really an option... I dont know them personally but have heard only good things from Blasting Die Past - http://www.blastingdiepast.com/ There is a guy local to me whom i know, and he is a fantastic painter. He also does full restos but he certainly is not cheap. - Ace body And Paint. He only has a fistbook page at present (website is under construction) - https://www.facebook.com/AceBodyPaintSpecialist/
He has a beautiful Mk1 caddy as a promotional vehicle.
Gary Wilkie in North Wales did all the welding on my syncro, and there was a lot of it!. He did a terrific job and I would have no hesitation in recommending him. He also has a friend who does painting. I'm not very far away from you if you want to look at my camper and see the result I could easily drop by. Best of luck with it
A lot of bolt tightening to do but its moveable. New B6's, PAS fitted with flexi's, a dash swap etc so lots achieved this weekend. Just need to persuade some fresh fuel back into the Weber and whip the rest of the trim out, then it can be driven onto a trailer and head up to the restoman
There are some cheeky body mods going into the mix, you know I cant leave things totally standard

Well there's been a few delays so the syncro is still at home, but not for long. Should be heading off to Gary very soon. I have a week or so to finish any stripping out or marking up and that's it! The bus is going to get full Caravelle a/c fitted, after I found a compressor and bracket a while back (I have a Wanted ad posted for the body brackets if anyone knows of one that's been broken? I have got the rest) and the spare will be mounted on the RHS of the boot space with the correct T-bolt and wood blocks etc (no hoses or wiring up the offside D-post) so there's some GRP to carefully trim...

Could i ask what refrigerant you will be using? I am wondering about getting the aircon working in my SA van, all seems to function but without cooling.

If you're system is the old r12 you can buy adapters to make the r134 machine fit. I bought mine from eBay, I haven't charged the system with gas but the connections on my 134 machine now fit the old system in the van.

Thanks for the reply, dont want to hijack the thread but as you're not that far from me (well about 100 miles), maybe when you have your aircon sorted I could pop over for some pointers about mine? (I'd be interested in seeing your syncro as well!) Maybe pm me with your thoughts?

Yep all the suspension is galvanized, B6's and some used standard springs (for now anyway, no intention to lift it, might just replace them with new OEM at some point to firm it up a little)
