This lot is no longer sitting on a pallet:

So should be getting the van back from the garage next week. It's just passed the MOT so final road testing & tweaking. Out with the 2.1wbx & Pieburg, in with a 2008 2.5 Subaru, and gearbox rebuilt/upgraded by our own Mr Talbot - Excited is an understatement! :)

Fitting a 1.8T into a syncro tri-star, doing extensive refurb on a 16 Westy and starting a rebuild on a Weinsbergh.

I've been busy, here's a few teaser pics of shiny fresh paint on my kombi. Lots of shiny bits soon to be bolted back on ! More later.

Care to share anything about that ? I'm just re-doing a 2000MY 2.5 I originally fitted in '08 and it's always interesting to hear what other folk are doing.

I can't take much credit I'm afraid, it's with CoastVW who are doing the work.

In brief, the engine's being converted to a throttle cable setup, and running an Omex ECU with a mapping to suit the heavier van. Modified sump/bash plate to maintain clearance. The airbox is being swapped to the left side and modified so that it can be used with the new engine, some repair work & repainting of the engine bay whilst everything was out, and usual stuff like replacing the tank straps, fuel lines etc.

While the gearbox was out, input shaft swapped to an RJES Subaru input shaft so that a standard scoobly clutch could be used, together with the additional oiling plates etc. to improve cooling/lubrication and a whole encyclopedia of new/better condition parts fitted.

Just driving mine..Not far but driven none the less, just had the rack rebuilt for the second time, damn RHD sh!t, would be easy if it was a left hooker..
Just listed a load of syncro brake pipes on the shop, seems ages since we listed any syncro stuff, I bet I've had them for the best part of 2 years, just found them! I suppose it is that calmer time of year when we can catch our breath and start listing all the stuff we've bought and not had opportunity to list.

And... it's in & finished :)

Very, very pleased, it's transformed the van as you'd expect. 30mph to 60mph in 3rd is a revelation!
