Our syncroPenYrOleWen alternative weekend ;)

Postby silverbullet » 02 Jul 2018, 07:39

Arrived before noon on the Friday and it just got better from there.
Erin had said that she wants some real adventure in her life so I took the opportunity/gamble that we were both up to it (both physically and mentally) and as it turned out, were not found wanting in any way!
Fantastic almost alpine weather, a strengthening breeze once a couple of hundred metres off the valley floor at 500m and breathtaking views from the summits.
A few emotional moments were had at the scrambles (both up and down!) and also on the breezy exposed ridges, but trust won through and hopefully a big boost to someone's confidence will result.
Route: Ogwen Valley. Pen yr Ole Wen (948m) via eastern ridge, Carnedd Daffydd (1044m) and Carnedd Llewellyn (1064m), Pen y waun wen and then descending to the Ffynnon Lugwy reservoir and a loooong trudge along the road back to the van.
A big day out by anyone's standards and quite an introduction to hillwalking for Erin.
So proud of my girl :)ImageImageImageImageImageImage

A few more, lunch stop nestled into a refuge and one of that "tricky"descent off the shoulder of Llewellyn...
The panorama was looking back at the end of the day.ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Nice work both. Always feels like you’ve hit pay dirt when the weather is that good up top in Wales . Full alpine facial hair tho. British Rails so last year ?

Couldn't pass it up, so often those peaks are in the clag. Didn't realize the km count was that high either.

No4 on the Wahl and run them all over, its the low maintenance Action Man look.
