Front end tear down - couple of questions

Postby bene » 04 Jun 2018, 22:04

Howdy folks, I have a couple of questions...
The front end tear down has started and I'm wondering -
When dropping the front sub-frame, it looks like it has elongated holes where it's bolted on, so I NEED to put it back in the same place? So need to mark the bodywork somehow?
Also, one of the wishbone bolts is refusing to budge... The one in the photo is the one that came out. Any ideas on how to get it to budge? I assume it's rusted to the big washers.
Cheers in advance!!
Ben

The top wishbone pivot bolt has loads of clearance where it passes through the chassis tube, it will be the eccentric washers giving you grief. They are quite a close fit on the bolt.
Lots of tapping, prising and swearing required.
Your van will need a full steering geometry re-set once its all done...

Yeh, cool... We will do the geometry ourselves first then take it to a garage which is actually quite happy doing the whole lot.
Cheers Ian
