16" tyres again Sorry

Postby oldswampy » 31 May 2018, 20:36

Hi I apologise now for asking most probably a daft question so here we go. I have a 16" Syncro running Toyo 205 80 16 108/110 and I am having to replace them due to cracking rather than wear. My question is do the tyres have to be rated at 108/110 or can i go down to 104/106 was looking at Michelin XZL

Didn't work for mine either - maybe classed as a commercial and excluded from their database :?:

The VW Instruction Manual says for 205 R16 tyres on a Syncro they should have a load rating of 104.

Thank you. That gives me some options with that load rating

Why do the 16" need such a high load rating? Same GVW as all other T3 at 2500/2600kg or am I missing something?
IIRC 95's (just) allow 1300kg per axle which is rock-bottom for a 2wd, or is it an extra allowance for three-wheeling when off-road?
So many questions :D
