A bit more progress on the Beast

Postby bat » 24 Feb 2018, 19:43

Hi all.
A bit of progress recently care of Doug and Dan at Dougs VW Werks.

First Dan has extended the back wheel arches so the wheels won't hit the bodywork if I go over a big lump.

Dan has also welded up all the holes in the floor from previous fixing etc,

Fixed the lower door runner

tided up the front wheel arches

repaired the front driver's step

and most importantly the hole above the jacking point.

This work was followed by a Doug who promptly cut a new hole in the floor to fit an underslung battery box.

Doug has also repaired the gear linkage and work continues on the wiring at the front and the installation of new dash clocks (hopefully more photos to follow)

I am hoping to fit a second shorter box on the other side (gear linkage prevents a full-length box) at a later date and fuel tanks to the left and right outer sides. more on that when it happens.

Looks good Gary. I look forward to catching up and checking out the modifications. 8)

Our red Bus is in getting suspension bushes done, but it has revealed a rotten rear crossmember, rotten backing plates, leaking wheel cylinders and a knackered trailing arm. It never ends.... :?

We also have a 58ltr range fuel tank to fit at some point.

I know what you mean When Doug’s finished and hopefully, the huge earth leak has been found and fixed, I have to go back to Norwich to get the engine remapped (the last time was not right).

The fuel tanks I hope to fit should be about 65 to 70 L each

The Dash Clocks from Syncrosport (I've only had them a year or is it two) are in, and along with the rest of the spaghetti wiring behind the dash, currently in the process of being sorted out and connected, courtesy of Doug's VW Werks.
