Some might say they all do it.
Only there when pulling hard in too higher gear,
when motor is really chugging..
No other problem no vibration when driving at all.
Before I rush out and get a new sliding prop,
is there a simple cure?

The splines in your VC spindle were worn to razor edges! No wonder the prop rattled...footstuck wrote:I had the same noise and it disappeared when i installed a new VC
The splined plates within the VC all had excessive wear, so the core was no good for rebuild
The only way to stop the ringing (prior to VC replacement) was to de-couple![]()
Here we go again

In my case, the prop on the 16" doka (which 'Rang' like the fire station' when at low engine revs) was a solid prop with no sliding spline or rubber doughnut.
The VC worked right up to its removal, which was a precautionary refurb only.
The ringing was not there when the gearbox was in the De-coupled mode
(i wasn't trying to make any other point there)
