SYNCRO REAR WHEEL CARRIER

Postby Andyherbster » 01 Jun 2017, 07:34

Hi all!!! I'm after a bit of advice please. Iv just bought an original T3 syncro rear wheel carrier off flee bay with anchor latch the trouble is I haven't got any of the mounting hardware or hinges. I was wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction in sourcing some or getting some fabricated.

Many thanks Andrew

Hi. You will also need to give some thought to reinforcing the outer body panels to pick up the fixings for both the hinges and the latch stand off (this one is straightforward - the hinges not so easy - are reinforced internally at manufacture I believe. I have photos of the way VW went about it. Other designs have reinforced , or not, in other ways.

Hi guys thanks for the info. After doing alot of digging and emails etc it looks like my only option is to pass it on. Iv been offered a good after market solution to my lack of carrier In exchange for the parts iv got. TBH I really can't afford to purchase the bits or to get some fabricated them so it's my only option.

I think a few people looked at this (it's a rare bit of kit) and decided that finding the missing parts was going to be a whole lot of work. I know I did. I also noticed that the seller was also selling a couple of latches, but not the whole set-up - did you manage to win those extra bits?
If you search on the Syncro pages under 'wheel carrier', and go back a few years, there are people with these items. You need to find someone who has one of these carriers, who might let you copy the parts you need. Easier said than done, mind.
