Camper Jam Syncro ride volunteers 7th - 9th July

Postby toomanytoys » 26 Mar 2017, 11:40

Its that time of year again where I am looking for people to donate some time, enthusiasm and skills to this unique charity event that has grown bigger and bigger each year..

Last year we carried over 500 passengers in our Syncro's and collected over £1200 for charity. :ok

We require marshals to keep the site safe, when in the wooded quarry you get to see the trucks in action, up close and personal, so an excellent experience in its self, so the Syncro curious and 2wd peeps more than welcome..

And of course... Drivers with vehicles to carry the passengers on the laps.

We don't expect you to give up the whole weekend (But you can if you like) but we do ask that you are available for a whole session (Approx 2 and a bit hours), last year we ran 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday with 3 vehicles running constantly in each session. 3 is about the correct number to ensure non stop action 4 is a squeeze and usually means pauses in a couple of spots on each lap, but manageable..

Marshall's..
You will need walking boots or wellies, a decent coat if its not so warm and wet as there isn't a great amount of sun getting through the canopy.. (Hi vis vest would be useful but we do have a few spares)

Drivers and vehicles..
You need to be very experienced off road in a Syncro for this and your vehicle must be up to driving around at slow speeds offroad for a couple of hours without issue.. Descent tyres are a must and under body protection is needed..
Seat belts for passengers is an absolute requirement and the more seats the better...

So far, each year we haven't damaged a vehicle on the rocks or trees.. but.. the risk is there as its very tight in some spots and it also has to be mentioned, you will be cleaning mud out from underneath for weeks after if its wet (there tends to be some water about in any case.) it can get a bit rutted in a couple of spots so you cant have low water tanks etc..

We also try and run a short session for Syncro owners to have a run round the course in there own vehicles too this can be with one of us as a guide/instructor...

I am in negotiations with the organisers on concessions for the volunteers on this, they do recognise the event is for charity and a lot of time, effort and fuel is donated by us.. Although they do manage to arrange the use of the quarry for us with the Weston Park team and we are truly grateful for that.

If its the whole weekend or just on the day, please let me know if you are prepared to give up your time for this unique event.

Please send me a PM.

We had loads of fun last year and raised a sizeable sum. But with so few vans it was knackering. So c'mon Syncro guys, come and join in! Also marshals and stewards are desperately needed and no special skills required.

I won't have a syncro on the road, or even a camper, but I should be able to come as a day visitor and help marshall on one day
