syncro WBX coolant pipe curiosity

Postby silverbullet » 23 Mar 2017, 17:24

A strange discovery, maybe one for the ultra-nerds?
I was having a little stock-take before starting a stock 2.1 engine build and found two sets of syncro steel coolant transfer pipes (the ones that run from the pump and behind the crank pulley & across to #2 cylinder side of the case.
One pair are painted black as per usual, one set are light grey which I haven't seen before. Definitely original finish.
Are they very early specification for a syncro?
I recall that I changed the gear selector "box" on the Dec.85 and that was actually a 2wd item and also painted light grey (it had no extra detent pressing on the RHS to help retain G selection, as per reverse)
