There is rust but not much thankfully, just a few mechanical jobs to do and get rid of a load of wiring bodges.Image
When I asked the seller to send me pictures of any rust it was one similar to this he sent,He wasn't lying !

Your van should have a textured black vinyl covering around the windscreen, so that may be the sign of a repair?

I peeled of that section to get a look at the rust before the screen comes out, I've been round it with a paint depth gauge and it's all original. My problem now is trying to find a new tape.
It's slightly textured like the gti golf tailgate ones.

Alles klar! That's good news then. No idea where to get that plastic, otherwise its a paint shop job. I wanted to do my cab window reveals the same, so it looks less like a Totota HiAce.

I'll try and get one over from sa if poss, if available I might get a few, failing that either a sticker company or get it painted satin black before the window goes back in.
We got a bulletin from the paint company we use last week about some new Matt semi textured finish available on some manufacturers vehicles may try and add the texture to some black see what I can come up with.

Have you got a reliable contact for parts in SA?
I am getting desperate for some front discs for my 1995 2.6i (first year, smaller vented disc)

I was recommended to try textured bumper paint for under the windscreen, by Mr cpsyncro who works in a bodyshop and has used it on the rear of his Golf. A pretty good match I would say, although I am certainly in the market if an original is available.
