There is an alloy wedge fixed to the throttle disc and a small air bleed hole. Both look like "knobbling" devices to me. I would remove the wedge and close the holes up with a blob of braize or weld.

New SA syncro

Postby Bigjcc55 » 10 Jun 2017, 21:37

Not much to update to lately, the workshop has been really busy and I've had a spell of getting fed up working on the van.
That and the camper got the front suspension, bearings and brakes done so it's been left gathering dust.ImageImageImage
The oil cooler box and pipe work is almost complete, a couple of bits to trim on the body and I can bolt it in place.Image
There is plenty of room between the box and tail lamp for the air con hoses and the ecu to mount to the side of it.Image
The brakes and clutch are bled up, shafts and linkage are back on, so just some plumbing and wiring and hopefully it will be running again soon.

A couple more from hopefully the last fit before it's bolted in for good, I had to end up routing an air conditioning pipe through the side to get a nice angle for the fitting on the dryer bottle.Image Image

I hadn't thought about the dryer location! My aircon kit is 2wd...
Minor detail, but it does affect the remote oil filter on my cooler system.

I think I have a centre cap solution for the merc sprinter wheels, they are a mix of vw caddy centres and a set of compomotive caps off a cossie sierra,
The sierra caps were a £10 Ebay bargain, I've just cut the vw emblem out the centre and bond the sierra cap in at what ever height I want, I was planning on making the fronts a bit shallower than the rears.
I've still not got it running yet.
I'm waiting on a new airflow meter from go westy and some engine bay wiring to tidy up.

The finished caps look not bad now they are bonded together and fitted, fairy happy with the result.
Not much else happening apart from fitting some of the interior back together.

Ta much,
While I'm waiting on bits to get it running I spent the day on the outside sorting out wee bits on the paint work and clean the months of dust off it from sitting in the workshop.
And to make it look like progress I stuck the spares on the back bumper.ImageImageImage
